video game 3iGaming Business – Online and mobile gaming investment vehicle MGT Capital has announced the commercial launch of its MGTplay.com real-money, skill-based gaming website.

MGTplay.com offers a range of games that allow registered players to wager and win cash in head-to-head games with other players via the internet for small stakes.

The new website, which will offer one-on-one play or tournaments, will host online competitions in various casino game genres such as cards, sports, puzzles, strategy and arcade.

Customers will be able to play against other players from around the world for fun or to win real cash.

The new website will also be accessible to the majority of players in the US due to its skill-based games offering.

Online gambling remains legal in just three states but internet skill-based gaming is accessible to players in a total of 33 states across the US.

Jeremy Avin, general manager of MGT Capital, said: “With the launch of MGTplay.com, we are now in a position to fully monetise our subsidiary MGT Studios with the first of two ventures.

“Research shows that 8% of the US population currently plays skill-based games for money online, and that figure stands to grow with the emerging mobile market.”

MGTplay.com’s partner site in Germany has already proved popular, with players in the country able to compete for annual winnings of $10 million (€7.3 million).
