Ontario Lottery Online Gaming Deal

Online payment solutions provider Optimal Payments has further expanded its presence in the North American market after agreeing a five-year partnership with the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG). Under the agreement, Optimal Payments will provide its NETBANX payment service to OLG for its new online gambling service PlayOLG.

The new service will offer regulated interactive lottery, casino and video poker games to Ontario residents. The NETBANX solution will support the new offering by providing payment options, as well as delivering real-time fraud and risk prevention and mitigation services.

“PlayOLG will be the only regulated internet gaming option in Ontario,” OLG’s senior vice-president of charitable and iGaming, George Sweny, said. “PlayOLG will return profits to the government of Ontario to help fund provincial priorities. Optimal Payments’ NETBANX system will assist PlayOLG in offering an iGaming solution that is entertaining, exciting and focused on customer service, safety and security.”

Joel Leonoff, president and chief executive officer of Optimal Payments, added: “This agreement is further concrete evidence of our capability to deliver on our strategy to extend our reach in the regulated North American online gaming market.”

The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation, known for corporate branding purposes simply as OLG since 2006, is a Crown corporation owned by the Government of Ontario, Canada. It is responsible for the province’s lotteries, charity and Aboriginal casinos, commercial casinos, and slot machines at horse-racing tracks.
