After last week’s frantic activity in the Pennsylvania state legislature, we expected this to happen, but nonetheless, it is a relief that on Monday, Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf signed the gambling expansion bill that will, among other things, legalize online gambling, including poker. The Pennsylvania Senate passed HB 271 on Wednesday by a 31-19 vote and the House passed it Thursday morning, 109-72, sending the gambling bill to Governor Wolf’s desk. Nevada Representative Dina Titus is urging the President Elect to oppose a call for an online gambling ban.The Democratic Congresswoman sent a letter to Vice President-elect Mike Pence, head of Trump’s transition team, this week. Her letter was in response to a letter signed last month by ten attorneys general who opposed online gaming. The ten Republican attorneys general sent their letter Nov. 17 to Pence asking him to consider the Restoration of America’s Wire Act (RAWA). Gov. Chris Christie says he’d be in favor of approving partnerships of the kind soon to be announced between the Florida-based Hard Rock gaming company and the Meadowlands Racetrack for a casino in north Jersey — as long as tax revenues from such ventures would help pay to revitalize ailing Atlantic City. Nevada governor skeptical about betting on elections

Las Vegas Sun – Gov. Brian Sandoval isn’t sold on allowing Nevada to become the first state to permit betting on the presidential and other federal elections. “As I think through it, unless I’m convinced otherwise, it is not something I would support,” Sandoval said today. He described himself as “more of a traditionalist” when it comes to betting. “The state has done fine on sports and horse race betting and other events,” he said.
