An amazing 63 percent of Americans now support legalized sports betting in the country, with a record 8-in-10 Americans supporting legalizing sports betting within their state. Fifteen states have active or pre-filed bills to legalize sports betting in their jurisdictions and an additional dozen states are likely to consider sports betting legislation in 2019. Legalized Sports Betting Popular in Maryland

While Maryland voters likely will have to wait at least two years to decide whether to legalized sports betting  is for them, a narrow majority of the state’s voters approve of adding betting on sports today, according to a Washington Post-University of Maryland poll. The poll found 53 percent of registered voters are in favor of legal professional sports gambling, with 37 percent opposed, and 10 percent of voters having no opinion. The U.S. Supreme Court is expected to hear arguments on legalized sports betting soon. It’s a case that could upend the country’s sports gambling laws, and for the first time most Americans support making wagering on professional sports legal, according to new poll conducted by The Washington Post and the University of Massachusetts Lowell.
