The Reasons Lindsey Graham is Stalling RAWA

Following the reintroduction of the Restoration of America’s Wire Act (RAWA) in the U.S. House of Representatives by Jason Chaffetz (R-UT), the entire iGaming world expected Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) to reintroduce RAWA into the U.S. Senate. Graham has indicated he would be reintroducing the legislation he and Chaffetz first pushed for in 2014, presumably at the behest of Sheldon Adelson, who is widely believed to be the driving force behind RAWA. But up to this point, RAWA hasn’t returned for an encore appearance in the U.S. Senate. There are several reasons Graham may have flinched on reintroducing an online…

Lindsey Graham, Online Gambling and the 2016 Election

Sen. Lindsey O. Graham is a long shot to be president. So the South Carolina Republican, who announced his campaign Monday, needs help from some very powerful people to reach his ultimate goal. Actually, there’s one person, in particular. Graham is hoping to get a boost (in the form of millions of dollars to his super PAC, preferably) from Jewish mega-donor and Las Vegas casino magnate Sheldon Adelson. Adelson is a rich man with a near-singular focus on one issue: banning online gambling. It’s a moral hazard to America’s great nation, says Adelson, who has vowed to “spend whatever it takes” to ensure…

National Governors Association is against online gaming ban

The Hill – The National Governors Association (NGA) is opposing legislation from Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) and Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-Utah) that would ban online gambling. “The nation’s governors are concerned with legislation introduced in Congress that would ban online Internet gaming and Internet lottery sales because it challenges the federal-state relationship,” the governors wrote in a letter to congressional leaders. Backed by billionaire casino owner and conservative donor Sheldon Adelson, Graham and Chaffetz introduced twin bills in March that would ban online gambling. They argue this practice would be harmful to children who may have access to such sites…

New Jersey lawmakers rail against online gaming ban

North Jersey – State Democratic leaders on Wednesday denounced a proposed Congressional ban of online gaming that would roll back the 2013 legalization of such games by New Jersey, Nevada, and Delaware while also barring the other 47 states from enacting such legislation. New Jersey Assembly Speaker Vincent Prieto, D-Secaucus, said in a press release that online gaming “is clearly an issue best left for the states to decide and regulate.” While Republican Senator Lindsey Graham of South Carolina and Democratic Senator Dianne Feinstein of California are sponsors of a recent bill to ban the gambling, state Senate President Stephen…

Online gambling initiative slams new US legislation

iGaming Business – The Safe and Secure Internet Gambling Initiative, an advocate for online gaming regulation in the US, has hit out at the introduction of new legislation that would ban all forms of internet gambling with the exception of fantasy games and horseracing. iGaming Business, Senators Lindsey Graham and Jason Chaffetz from the Democratic and Republican parties, respectively, are sponsoring legislation in an attempt to ban online gambling in the country. The legislation aims to reverse a decision in 2011 by Attorney General Eric Holder that a 1961 law used to ban online gaming only applied to sports betting….

Adelson’s Anti-Internet Gambling Bill Could Be Introduced Soon

Poker News – There are rumors going around Washington, D.C., that Sen. Lindsey Graham may finally introduce the Sheldon Adelson-backed bill looking to strengthen The Wire Act to ban all forms of Internet gambling next week, according to Poker Players Alliance executive director John Pappas. Politico.com also reported sources working on the issue saying Graham could introduce his bill as soon as next week. It has been more than three weeks since news leaked that Adelson, chairman and CEO of Las Vegas Sands, had found a taker for his hypocritical pet project in Graham, a Republican from South Carolina. So…
