Las Vegas Poker Rooms Continue to Close

Nevada poker revenue held steady in March, despite a meaningful decline in the total number of poker rooms and tables compared to 2016, according to Nevada gaming regulators. While poker rooms in Nevada may be shrinking in number and size, they also appear to be becoming more efficient. In March 2016, the Nevada Gaming Control Board reported 71 total poker rooms and 655 poker tables in the state. According to a 2013 revenue report released Friday, Silver State casinos raked in $11.14 billion — a 2.6-percent increase over 2012. A total of 339 properties statewide generated the 11-figure sum. The performance was the fourth year in a row gaming revenues climbed statewide. Nevada Governor Working on Web Poker Compacts with Other States

From pokerati Gov. Brian Sandoval said Thursday he has held preliminary talks with other state governors on partnering with Nevada on Internet poker. Sandoval didn’t name the states but gaming sources said Texas could be a target. Sandoval, a Republican, supported Texas Gov. Rick Perry’s brief run for the GOP’s presidential nomination last year.
