SHFL profits cut by Bally merger costs

Macau Business Daily – SHFL entertainment Inc, a maker of casino equipment, announced its net profit tumbled in the last fiscal quarter, due to costs from the proposed merger with Bally Technologies Inc. The United States firm reported on Wednesday U.S. time that net profit fell by 38.5 percent year-on-year to US$6.4 million (51.1 million patacas) in the three months ended July 31. The estimated US$1.3-billion merger with Bally – another leading Nevada-based gaming equipment firm – cost the company US$3.6 million in the third quarter. Bally $1.3 billion buyout of SHFL Entertainment gains FTC approval

Casino City Times – Bally Technologies, Inc.’s $1.3 billion acquisition of SHFL Entertainment passed a mandatory waiting period from the Federal Trade Commission without any concern of antitrust issues. The slot machine manufacturer said Tuesday the waiting period under the Hart-Scott-Rodino Antitrust Act expired Monday without any action or questions by the FTC. Completing the waiting period satisfies one of the conditions required to finalize the acquisition. Bally and SHFL announced the merger on July 16. Bally will acquire SHFL at a price per share of $23.25. The transaction still requires regulatory approval in several jurisdictions, including Nevada. SOURCE

SHFL Entertainment Inks Deal With Swedish Firm

Card Player – SHFL entertainment, Inc. (formerly Shuffle Master), which was acquired by Bally Technologies this summer, announced Thursday that it has reached an agreement with Sweden-based NYX Interactive AB to have SHFL’s web gaming products integrated onto the latter’s “Open Gaming System.” The deal pertains to real-money gambling in regulated online markets.
