Playtech to leave Belgium market

BelgiumSBR – Sportsbook Review has learned that following new regulations, Playtech will restrict both new and existing customers from Belgium effective 29 April 2014. Belgium based users will no longer be able to register with any Playtech online sportsbook or casino product. While popular british Bookmaker William Hill no longer allowed new Belgium players as of last year, existing Belgium users must withdraw their funds.

Belgium customers may continue to withdraw their funds after 29 April 2014 as they become aware of the regulatory change. WilliamHill management apologises for any inconvenience caused by the new Playtech regulations.

This is the first major country change since WillHill’s decision to leave the Chinese internet gambling market, as reported by SBR in the summer of last year. Additional details concerning this exit will be posted as they become available.

Sportsbook Review last reported that the British bookmaker chose to exercise a call option over Spanish facing business Miapuesta. This came on the backend of their agreement to acquire SportingBet which was worth up to a whopping $716.4 million.

Sportsbook Review asks users from Belgium to write in to help@sportsbookreview.com with their feedback on the final payout process. Players are specifically asked to report the ease or difficulty of withdrawal in receiving their final balances: WilliamHill management expects no issues in releasing the payouts to the affected users, but users are nevertheless asked to submit their feedback to SBR.
