US Online Gambling Market Estimate Cut 30 Percent
AP – Morgan Stanley lowered its estimate of the U.S. Internet gambling market on Tuesday to $3.5 billion by 2017, down from a previous forecast of $5 billion. Alderney regulator and Fifa subsidiary sign Memorandum of Understanding
iGaming Business – The Alderney Gambling Control Commission (AGCC) regulatory body has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Early Warning System, a subsidiary of the Fifa international football governing body. The agreement has been activated ahead of this summer’s 2014 Fifa World Cup national team tournament. The MoU is based on an ongoing close co-operation for the early detection of suspicious activities in sport betting, which can serve as an indicator for match-fixing. Sheldon Adelson Hires Former Democrat Senator As A Lobbyist
Huffington Post – One of Republicans’ top fundraisers is bringing on a former Democratic senator as a lobbyist for his casino. Roll Call reported Friday that Sheldon Adelson has hired the Lincoln Policy group, Blanche Lincoln’s government consulting firm, to lobby for his Las Vegas Sands corporation. Politico adds that the Lincoln move is to help Adelson with his campaign against online gambling. Gaming machine count puts New South Wales second in the world
The Guardian – New South Wales is second only to Nevada as the most gambling machine-packed state in the world, according to a new report. The World Count of Gaming Machines report, released by Australia’s poker-machine lobby group, the Gaming Technologies Association (GTA), has found the total number of gambling machines in Australia increased slightly in 2013 to 198,418. More than 95,000 of those “pokies” are in NSW, a state total beaten only by Nevada, which operated 181,109 gambling machines in 2014.
