Poker News – Spain’s average poker player is male, under 34 years old, and well educated. Spanish online poker players also appear to be at a lower risk of problem gambling when compared to any other form of online gambling. These are the results of the third online gaming industry study by Spain’s Dirección General de Ordenación del Juego (DGOJ) published on the DGOJ website earlier this month. Yahoo launches social games network
iGaming Business – Multinational internet corporation Yahoo has announced the launch of the Yahoo Games Network, a new social gaming network. The firm said on its website that Yahoo Games Network would serve as a platform for third-party game developers that want distribution of the Yahoo network, as well as “easy onboarding services that help them authentic players, monetise their games, provide social sharing, analytics and ongoing operational support for growth”. Time for a tough talk on Delaware gambling
Delaware Online – Delaware still has not cured its gambling problem. The state remains dependent on a casino levy that grows more vulnerable every time a competitor opens its doors across the state line. A series of recommendations from a state task force will help keep Delaware’s three casinos alive, but the proposals will not solve the revenue problem. The Delaware study commission recommended changes in the way money is split between the state, the casinos and the horse-racing industry. New Jersey lawmakers to simplify casino self-exclusion
Miami Herald – Gamblers could ban themselves from casinos or gambling websites without having to admit they have a problem under a bill that the New Jersey Assembly approved Thursday. The state’s voluntary self-exclusion lists permit people to sign up and request that they not be admitted to casinos or allowed to gamble online. But the law currently requires them to attest that they have a gambling problem. Trusted Reviews – A new combined report from IDC and App Annie has discovered that mobile games accounted for 75 per cent of the handheld gaming market last year. Despite significant growth for the Nintendo 3DS and a strong software line-up for the handheld, it was still totally outmatched by the spending on mobile platforms.
