Yahoo tops Google for U.S. Web traffic

Washington Post – There’s some good news for Yahoo chief executive Marissa Mayer: Yahoo topped Google in Web traffic for the first time since May 2011. Research firm comScore reported Yahoo logged 196.6 million unique visitors in July, compared with its rival’s 192.3 million. The bump in traffic should be encouraging news for Mayer, a Google alum who has focused on overhauling Yahoo’s image in the year since she took the helm at the technology giant. German Gaming Service Relaunched

iGaming Business – German commercial broadcaster RTL has relaunched its online gaming platform, Gamechannel.de, by announcing a string of deals with gaming producers. RTL has penned agreements with the likes of Bigpoint, Electronic Arts and Ubisoft in order to enhance its free-to-play offerings in Germany. The deals have added strategy games such as ‘Forge of Empires’, ‘The Settlers Online’ and ‘Command & Conquer: Tiberium Alliances’ as well as racing title ‘Need for Speed World’. Las Vegas Building World’s Largest Observation Wheel

Will Las Vegas build the world’s largest observation wheel? The Strip is in the middle of a huge makeover of part of its world-famous stretch of urban neon. The project in question is the land that Caesars Entertainment is transforming into The Linq –  once just a back alleyway and a large parking garage, soon to become Las Vegas first pedestrian-only, open-air retail, dining and entertainment district. New MGM lounge to offer whiskey, blackjack and video poker

Vegas Inc – A new high-end gaming lounge is opening at the MGM Grand. Set to open Aug. 28, Whiskey Down will take over the former space of Tabú. The 24-hour lounge will feature six blackjack tables, seven video poker machines and a 64-seat bar. Whiskey Down’s drink menu is flush with a huge collection of brown spirits, including American, Canadian, Irish and Scotch whiskies, as well as specialty cocktails. SOURCE

Vegas Airline Passengers Spend Double On In-Flight Drinks

The Huffington Post – On most trips to Las Vegas, the party starts long before hitting the Strip… and apparently even before hitting the airport landing strip. In May, passengers on Vegas-bound flights spent over twice as much on drinks than the average passenger, a survey found. Technology group GuestLogix reviewed data from six North American airlines to determine spending patterns among travelers.
