Russian authorities have started blocking websites operated by a host of major gambling operators, keeping to a pledge it made earlier this year. In February, the Roskomnadzor media regulator said it would agree to a request from the government for stronger control over access to unauthorised gambling sites in the country. Having commenced this blocking process last month, the Bookamersrating.ru website has reported that the agency has now started to block sites operated by some of the more major brands in the industry. Over the past few days, the likes of bwin.party, Ladbrokes, Unibet, 888 Poker and Betway have all…

Online Gambling Still a States Rights Issue
Today, Campaign for Liberty issued the following statement from C4L Chairman Ron Paul strongly opposing the “Restoration of America’s Wire Act” (H.R. 707), which would institute a federal ban on online gambling thus trampling on the United States Constitution which gives the state’s sole respecting authority to regulate Internet gambling. “Under our Constitutional system, the regulation of Internet gambling is solely under the jurisdiction of state and local authorities,” said Ron Paul. “Modern technology makes it possible to prevent minors and residents of states that do not allow online gambling from accessing online casinos. DraftKings & FanDuel Ordered to Cease and Desist
There are at least 1.3 billion reasons why the operators of DraftKings and FanDuel are beginning to sweat. The two largest daily fantasy sports companies were each valued at $1.3 billion this year by the investment community. Both companies, fueled by hedge funds, investment firms, billionaires, and professional sports leagues, were considering initial public offerings sometime in 2016. That path met a roadblock. The Gaming Control Board issued a “cease and desist” order two weeks ago to the daily fantasy sports sites, saying the activity was the definition of sports wagering under Nevada law. Until they are licensed by the…
Amaya Withdraws Fantasy Sports Site from Most U.S. Markets
Canadian online gambling operator Amaya Gaming has withdrawn its StarsDraft daily fantasy sports operation from all but four US states, citing regulatory developments. On Monday, Amaya issued a statement saying StarsDraft would restrict its real-money DFS contests to US customers located in New Jersey, Massachusetts, Kansas and Maryland, the four states Amaya says have “favorable existing daily fantasy sports guidance.” The move follows StarsDraft’s recent exits from both Florida and Nevada, which were prompted by a federal grand jury investigation and state regulators declaring that DFS operators needed gambling licenses, respectively. Amaya says the exit wouldn’t have a negative financial…
3 Hit Games that Should be Adapted to Slot Machines
It was over a decade ago when Microgaming, one of the best known and highly appreciated casino software developers of the industry, released the first video game based slot machine in history. The game they adapted was Tomb Raider, and the slot featured stills and symbols from the game. It was insanely successful, too – and its sequel, released a few years later, was also a fan favorite. Both of the above games, as well as Hitman – also based on a video slot game – can be played in demo mode or in real money mode at the Red…
