Why UK punters reckon online gambling ads miss the mark
Marketing Magazine – 67% of UK consumers are concerned over the volume of online gambling advertising, while only a fifth of the populace believed that online gaming brands target the right audience, according to research from IgnitionOne. The ‘Betting on Digital’ report was commissioned by digital marketing technology specialist IgnitionOne, which worked closely with ComRes and surveyed 2,000 UK consumers. Uefa and Europol join forces in anti-corruption effort
iGaming Business – European football’s governing body Uefa has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Europol, the European Union’s joint police body, in an attempt to bolster its campaign to stamp out match-fixing in the sport. Under the MoU, both organisations will provide expertise and constant consultation in the areas of match-fixing and related organised crime, as well as the exchange of information and know-how related to these issues. Police union: Banning online gaming will not work
The Hill – The national police officers union is telling Congress not to impose a nationwide ban on online gambling. “We cannot ban our way out of this problem as this would simply drive online gaming further and further underground and put more and more people at risk,” Fraternal Order of Police National President Chuck Canterbury wrote to heads of the House Judiciary Committee last week. “Not only does the black market for Internet gaming include no consumer protections, it also operates entirely offshore with unlicensed operators, drastically increasing the threat of identity theft, fraud or other criminal acts.” The…
