It wasn’t that long ago that sports betting in Washington State was passed. That legislation, however, restricts the activity to Tribal casinos. Now, the push is on to expand the activity to card rooms in the state… a move that supporters say will add jobs and tax revenue. The bill has come out of the state Senate and is backed by the Nevada-based Maverick Gaming. They are the same company that backed a similar bill last year. The state set a record for revenue in December with over $70 million, which was a jump of nearly 500% from  January of 2020. Last week the Governor of Nevada relaxed the COVID-19 rules, allowing some Las Vegas shows to open up again with the increased capacity limits. One of the benefits of the eased restrictions was the ability of live shows to go from 50 people in the audience to 100. Fantasy and Carrot Top, both at the Luxor, were among the first big name shows to reopen. Murray Sawchuck is a magician who opens for the Fantasy show.
