Mirage Las Vegas Closes Midweek
Another Las Vegas resort has joined the ranks of midweek closures. The Mirage Las Vegas shut it’s doors today, ceasing all operations at their casino and restaurants Mondays through Thursdays. Their hotel had already been closed for midweek operations in November. In an announcement, MGM Resorts stated that these closures come as midweek demand has been low due to Coronavirus and the state wide restrictions on large groups. MGM says that they do not anticipate the closures to last beyond February. However, they will “continue evaluating business levels”, leaving the door open for the shut down to last longer. Overall,…
Tribal Gaming Clears Over $34 Billion in America
The numbers are in… and they are staggering, as US Tribal Gaming operators netted $34.6 billion in 2019. Those numbers were reported by the National Indian Gaming Commission and mark a 2.5% jump in revenue. That total was derived from over 500 independent financial statements submitted to the Commission by 245 federally recognized tribes across 29 states. The Commission Chairman said that revenue for 2020 could be in jeopardy, however, due to the Coronavirus pandemic. The reports for 2019 profits were recorded well before the forced closures of commercial and tribal casino operations this year. More about Tribal Gaming profits…

London Casinos Closed Over New COVID Strain
Just as things were starting to look better for 2021, London casinos have been closed again as a new stain of Coronavirus is sweeping through the United Kingdom. The city has been forced into another lock down by the latest surge of COVID-19 infections in what the Mayor described as “deeply troubling”. The UK Health Secretary said that the mutated strain is not believed to be more dangerous than previous strains, and is highly unlikely to be resistant to vaccines. However, he added that it “appears to be spreading more quickly” and may be responsible for the surge in infections…
Cirque du Soleil Won’t be Leaving Las Vegas
Less than a month ago, Cirque du Soleil announced the permanent closure of their Zumanity show at the New York New York Resort in Las Vegas. But any concerns that the company will close down and abandon Sin City don’t seem to be true. Just a year ago their aquatic show“O” began a first ever seven-night schedule. The show originally opened with Bellagio back in October of 1998. After passing the 10,000-show mark last September, the production hired new artists and increased the cast to 117 from 77 in preparation for what should have been its biggest year yet. Then…
