AGA Says Federal Sports Betting Framework a “Non-Starter”
The American Gaming Association has warned Senator Chuck Schumer that his new proposals for a federal sports betting framework in the US are “a non-starter” despite several top sports organizations having come out in support of the US Senate Minority Leader’s efforts. Schumer became the latest member of Congress to submit suggestions for a federal sports betting framework, with states so far having adopted their own legislative approaches to sports betting after PASPA, the federal law banning sports betting, was overturned in May. “With the Supreme Court’s ruling, it’s incumbent on the federal government to take a leadership role and…
Federal Sports Betting Regulations Proposed in US Senate
Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) became the latest member of Congress to put forth specific suggestions for Federal sports betting regulations in a memo first provided to ESPN. Schumer’s suggestions include the idea that all sports books only use official league data to determine outcomes and that the sports leagues themselves should be involved in determining what bets would be accepted. Schumer also suggested leagues would have to reasonably step up monitoring, but did not mention so-called “integrity fees,” the idea that leagues should be paid a portion of bets on their sport as compensation for ratcheting up security…

Ohio Sports Betting Looks Unlikely for 2018
Ohio sports betting appears to be off the table. Fans hoping to bet will likely not be able to do so lawfully this year. Ohio Senate President Larry Obhof said Senate Bill 316, which would legalize sports gambling, will be vetted in a committee after the November election. The bill will probably not hit the Senate floor for a vote in 2018, said Obhof, a Medina Republican. In May, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled states could legalize sports betting. At the time, only Nevada allowed full-scale sports gambling. But other states are now starting to legalize it. SB 316 has…

At this morning’s meeting of the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board three of them were approved to offer interactive gaming. All three will be able to offer online poker. Most significant of these has got to be the Mount Airy Resort Casino which announced a partnership with PokerStars this week. Mt Airy also has a deal with 888 which dates back to 2015.
