Apache tribe sues National Indian Gaming Commission
Santa Fe New Mexican – The Fort Sill Apache tribe, which successfully sued Gov. Susana Martinez’s administration last spring to obtain recognition in New Mexico, is going back to court to fight for another long-standing cause. The tribe filed suit Monday against the National Indian Gaming Commission in hopes of reopening its casino in Southern New Mexico. Turkcell pulls out of Turkish national lottery tender
iGaming Business – Turkish mobile phone operator Turkcell has announced it will not participate in a tender for the country’s national lottery despite having reportedly considered a joint proposal with gaming and lottery operator Intralot. Turkcell’s majority-owned subsidiary Inteltek and fully-owned subsidiary Talih Kuşu had made a prequalification application for the tender, in partnership with Intralot. News Maker – Poker machines accounted for 60% ($9.8 billion) of the $16.3 billion spent by Australians on gambling in the 12 months to March 2014, well ahead of race betting and lotteries according to the latest results from the Roy Morgan Gambling Monitor. GGR Asia – Singaporeans are the world’s highest spenders on gambling, shows a new research by consultancy Global Betting and Gaming Consultants. Singaporeans spend on average US$1,376 per head on gambling a year, the results show. The Lion City topped previous leader Australia.
