Amaya agrees to gaming machine shipment deals in US
iGaming Business – Gaming industry entertainment solutions provider Amaya Gaming Group has announced that its Cadillac Jack subsidiary has entered into multiple agreements to ship approximately 1,100 gaming machines to new and existing customers in the US. The shipments include outright sales of gaming machines as well as upgrading existing revenue share-generating gaming machines. The majority of the units will be Class II machines but will also include the supply of Class III machines into Oklahoma and California. New Reno Casino First Since 1995
A new Reno casino in downtown is the first time since 1995 as the Silver Legacy has opened. Siri’s Casino opened its doors Friday at the site of the old Primadonna Club across from Harrah’s Reno. Owner Jeff Siri, who also is president of downtown Reno’s Club Cal Neva, says the new casino’s theme is based after Miami’s South Beach neighborhood. It features some 140 slot machines, a mermaid fountain, a full bar and a wide range of daiquiri drinks. UK Gambling Commission ups efforts to combat illegal gaming machines
iGaming Business – The UK Gambling Commission has announced it is to host a series of training workshops across the country to help local councils identify and manage the siting of illegal gaming machines in their respective constituencies. Training will be provided by Westminster City Training in partnership with the Gambling Commission’s Local Authority Liaison Unit (LALU), the latter of which regularly supports UK councils and polices forces on joint operations to remove illegal gaming machines. Green light for Vietnam casino to open in May
Sydney Morning Herald – Casino operator Donaco International has cleared the final regulatory hurdle in its bid to open a new hotel and gaming property in the North of Vietnam, pitched at Chinese gamblers in the bordering Yunnan province. The company is run by Joey and Ben Lim who are nephews of casino magnate K.T. Lim, the founder of Malaysian conglomerate Genting Berhad. Honolulu councilman considers gambling machine ownership illegal
KITV – The Honolulu City Council is considering making it illegal to own a gambling machine. Councilman Joey Manahan says he wants to give law enforcement more tools to crack down on gambling. He says more establishments with sweepstakes machines have been popping up and neighbors have complained. The bill would make it a misdemeanor to manage, maintain, produce, possess or use the machines. It would be punishable by up to 30 days in jail and a $1,000 fine. Companies that own the machines say they are not gambling devices. SOURCE
Borgata to refund $1.7M because of fake poker chips
Press of Atlantic City – More than 2,100 people who played in a poker tournament where fake chips were discovered will see a refund from Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa. After a three-month investigation, the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement issued an order Monday, allowing $1.7 million in prize money and refunds to be distributed to almost half of the people who entered the January contest. The investigation found that Borgata properly monitored the tournament and was not at fault. Meanwhile, officials acknowledged that the scam still may lead to other regulatory changes.
