Casino near Great Barrier Reef will not affect environment
The Guardian – A gigantic resort proposed for far north Queensland does not need federal environmental assessment, its backers have argued, even though it includes two casinos, eight accommodation towers, a golf course and a 33-hectare lake filled via a 2.2km pipeline from the Great Barrier Reef. Totally Gaming – David Cameron, the UK Prime Minister, is preparing a crackdown on FOBT machines in betting shops this week, alongside fresh penalties for companies if they fail to enforce new limits on playing times and betting losses, according to the Guardian newspaper. Dynam Japan Holdings could enter running for Japan casino
Reuters – Pachinko hall operator Dynam Japan Holdings is in talks with several Asian casino operators to build a casino in Japan as the country readies to debate a bill that would legalise casino gambling. Yoji Sato, Dynam’s chairman and one of Japan’s wealthiest businessmen, said the company wants to announce its partnership with an Asian operator after the passage of an initial bill towards legalizing casino gambling.
