PokerStars Wins Legal Delay in Casino Fight

A deal that would have given online-gambling giant PokerStars a chance to re-enter the U.S. market turned into a legal battle Monday as a judge agreed to temporarily block investment firm Colony Capital LLC’s attempt to terminate a casino-sale agreement with the company. A New Jersey Superior Court judge issued a temporary restraining order that prevents Colony from negotiating with other parties to sell its Atlantic Club casino in Atlantic City, N.J., for 10 days. Illinois Senate OKs bill allowing video gambling at horse-racing tracks

The Illinois Senate on Wednesday approved a gambling expansion bill that allows a new casino in Chicago, four new casinos elsewhere and video gambling at horse-racing tracks. The measure passed 32-20 in the Senate and now goes to the House. If approved there, it would need the governor’s signature. Senate Bill 1739 is similar to bills passed by the General Assembly in 2011 and 2012. Those bills were rejected by Gov.
