New York Online Sports Betting Becomes Law

After much delay and political fighting, New York online sports betting was finally signed into law by Governor Andrew Cuomo. Now, the real work begins. The goal is to have online and mobile sports bets fully regulated in time to let residents bet on the next Super Bowl. That means writing the rules, processing applications, and launching within nine months. Once applications for running a web based sports book are submitted, the Gambling Commission will have 150 days to process them and select just two providers. New York Mobile Sports Betting Hits Another Snag

Just when you think we can celebrate the passage of New York mobile sports betting, up jumps yet another issue. This time in the form of Tribal Gaming. You see, the Oneida Indian Nation has an agreement with the state. That 2013 agreement says that the Tribe is the “exclusive provider” of gaming in a 10-county region. However, mobile betting will be allowed across the whole state. That could be an issue. The passage of mobile betting seems to require the Oneida Indian Nation to apply for a license to run mobile betting in that 10-county region included in their…

The real profits still lie ahead, however, as the company fully expects to make over $350 million this year… and they are off to a nice start. January numbers are in, and the company has already seen well over $40 million in net revenue….

Metro Police were called to a multiple MGM properties around Las Vegas as angry bettors say MGM refused to their winning bets. It seemed that the companies app crashed right in the middle of the Super Bowl, but it later turned out that the glitch was caused by human error. Ohio Sports Betting Could Launch This Year

If legislators can put their differences aside, then we could see Ohio sports betting finally launch in 2021. Last year the State Senate and House could not overcome disagreements about regulatory oversight of the activity. The inability to get a deal done prior to the end of  December means that the process will have to start over with the new legislative session. Three of the biggest sponsors of the previous sports betting legislation are no longer in office. Right now the only legal option for sports fans in Ohio is to drive drive to Pennsylvania. Mobile sports wagering is legal…
