New Jersey to crack down on offshore online gaming
Press of Atlantic City – Offshore online gambling companies are trying to cash in on New Jersey’s recent legalization of Internet betting. State regulators won’t name any of the companies in question or definite how many there are, but say they’re aware of the issue. The offshore companies are attempting to entice New Jersey residents into playing on their sites without having received proper licensure from the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement, officials said. Texas company acquires PokerTek
Las Vegas Review Journal – Slot machine provider Multimedia Games said Wednesday it spent $13 million to acquire electronic table game company PokerTek. The transaction was announced as part of Multimedia Games’ second quarter earnings, in which the manufacturer said it grew both profits and revenue in the quarter that ended March 31. Multimedia Games is headquartered in Austin, Texas, with a sales and marketing office in Las Vegas. PokerTek places electronic poker, blackjack and baccarat tables in casinos throughout the U.S. and Macau. The deal requires regulatory approval. Philadelphia Casino plans to seek OK for gambling on smartphones and tablets
Philly.com – In a bid to attract younger crowds, Greenwood Gaming & Entertainment Inc. is planning to introduce gambling on smartphones and tablets at Parx Casino in Bensalem. “The idea is to try to expand our business, create more revenue both for us and the state by offering something that would appeal to a whole new generation of slots players,” John Dixon, Greenwood’s chief technology officer, said Wednesday at a Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board hearing in Harrisburg. GameAccount Network to launch in New York casino
Independent.ie – GameAccount Network, the UK-based gambling software provider headed by Dermot Smurfit Jnr, has inked a deal to provide a simulated gaming website to the famous Yonkers racetrack and casino in New York. GAN also announced that pre-tax profits hit £1.6m (€1.9m) last year compared to a loss of £1m (€1.2m) the year before, as net revenue rose 123pc to £12.3m (€15m). UK Minister outlines gambling regulation plans
iGaming Business – Helen Grant, the UK Minister for Sport, Tourism and Equalities, has announced plans to introduce a number of changes to UK gambling regulations.
