Majority of U.S. voters oppose federal ban on online gaming

The Hill –  Most people believe states should decide whether to regulate online gambling and are opposed to a federal ban, according to a new survey. The Coalition for Consumer and Online Protections (C4COP), a gambling advocacy group, released a survey Tuesday that found three out of four voters believe states should have the right to legalize online gambling for their own citizens. Swedish gaming operator Cherry registers full-year loss after online gaming investments

iGaming Business – Swedish gaming operator Cherry has registered a net loss of SEK8.2m (€902,000/$1.3 million) for 2013. Cherry said that the loss was due to investing in online gaming operations, with the company having launched the SpilleAutomater.com website and invested in game development company Yggdrasil Gaming and the Klubblo lottery in partnership with Swedish sports and media group Metro. Cherry also acquired 49% of online gaming company Web Resorts in November, and the company reported a SEK10.6 million net loss for the fourth quarter, even though total sales increased by 16% to SEK75 million. Spanish Gaming Business Council hits out at online slots proposal

iGaming Business – The Spanish Gaming Business Council (CEJUEGO) has warned against the legalisation of online slot games in the country. CEJUEGO said that it would be opposing the draft legislation to introduce online slots that was prepared by the Directorate General of Online Gaming (DGOJ) and will be debated by the Policy Council today (Wednesday). Las Vegas Sun – Casino giant Las Vegas Sands Corp. has restored its websites a week after they were hacked. The Las Vegas-based company pulled down its sites Feb. 13 after hackers defaced them with images condemning comments CEO Sheldon Adelson had made about using nuclear weapons on Iran. Sands restored the websites Monday afternoon. The company first became aware of the hacking on Feb. 12, when company email went down, Sands spokesman Ron Reese said.
