KARE 11 – A coalition of gambling opponents Thursday called on state lawmakers to pass a bill blocking the Minnesota Lottery from launching an online scratch game, or electronic instant ticket. “We’re going to be able to go online and instantly be able to play a game of chance with instant scratch-offs, so they’re progressing very rapidly at the Lottery,” Jake Grassel of Citizens Against Gambling Expansion, or CAGE, told reporters at the State Capitol. Police Bust Online Gambling Dens In Malaysia
Card Player – Forty eight individuals were arrested in a online gambling raid on New Years Eve in Malaysia, according to reports. The bust happened in the city of Miri, as local police relied on help from Bukit Aman’s Anti-Vice, Gambling and Gangsterism Division. The 48 were arrested at three separate alleged gambling dens. The 48 included workers as well as customers. Police confiscated 312 computers, 23 modems and RM11,367 ($3,460). The move is part of a revamped effort in Malaysia to combat illegal gambling.
