RGA: UK 15% iGaming tax will fail
Times of Malta – A KPMG study, commissioned by the Remote Gambling Association (RGA), has concluded that HM Treasury’s place of consumption tax regime for online gambling is likely to fail to achieve its aims unless the rate of gross profits tax is no higher than 10 per cent and it makes allowances for companies to offset costs associated with bonuses and incentives. In its 2012 Budget, the UK Government announced plans to tax online gambling on a place of consumption basis. The current proposals are to apply the existing remote gaming, betting and pool betting duty rates of 15…
Americans spent over $2 billion gambling online in 2012
Global Post – Americans spent $2.6 billion on gambling websites in 2012, according to a study released Tuesday by the casino industry as it renewed a push for Congress to regulate online betting. The American Gaming Association, which released the study, said it highlights the need for federal legislation to end the state of “ambiguity” on Internet wagering. The study by the British-based research firm H2 Gambling Capital found Americans accounted for a significant share of the $33 billion worldwide online gambling market, despite the legal limbo of most Internet betting. After years of treating online gambling as criminal, the…
The Story of Online Poker Money Laundering

She said her bosses told her the bank would fail without the illegal income and brought in criminal lawyers to threaten her with arrest if she told on them. Scharf ultimately worked with federal regulators to expose SunFirst Bank’s partnership…

The Internet gaming regulations in the Silver State, which were first adopted in December 2011, would need to be amended in order to allow for such deals to be brokered. “I can’t enter into any compacts or agreements with other states until the Gaming Control Board…

AGA: U.S. should establish federal policy for online gaming
Las Vegas Review-Journal – On Wednesday night, Justin Timberlake and other Hollywood stars walked the red carpet in Las Vegas to premiere their new movie, “Runner Runner,” a harrowing account of a lawless online poker world ruled by shady and unethical characters. Their story is fiction — and no doubt entertaining — but sadly, it is not far from reality for millions of Americans who simply want a safe online environment in which to enjoy one of America’s favorite pastimes. Currently, Americans spend $2.6 billion annually on illegal offshore gambling websites, according to new research from H2 Gambling Capital. In…
