Maximizing Your Wins From Sports Betting
Everyone likes to have a punt occasionally and try their hand at sports betting, however, few people actually ever win anything significant from it. Many people whether they’re gamblers of other types of betting or just sports enthusiasts will never win big from sports betting because they don’t understand what they’re doing and put the time into mastering it. You’ll always get casual sports betters who have a punt perhaps every weekend on their favourite sports team and use that as their only criteria for picking a winner. Or they may look at something like a home ground advantage but…
Indiana Legalizes Fantasy Sports
Indiana became the second state with a law formally legalizing daily fantasy sports after Gov. Mike Pence signed Senate Bill 339 on Thursday. Earlier this month, Virginia became the first state to pass such a law. States have taken vastly different approaches as they try to clarify the murky legality of the games. New York’s attorney general has declared them illegal and the industry’s two largest companies, DraftKings and FanDuel, agreed this week to stop taking bets in the state. In Maryland, a bill would put the question to voters in a November referendum. The Indiana law sets a minimum…
Will the NFL End Kickoff Returns?
The league owners voted to pass two rule changes Wednesday that will be seen as one-year experiments. The first rule is something that has been covered extensively and was expected to pass — automatic ejection of a player who receives two unsportsmanlike conduct penalties in a game. Coaches were opposed to the automatic ejection penalty, but owners seem to like the idea. The second rule that passed will essentially eliminate the need for teams to return kickoffs. The league has moved the touchback from the 20-yard line to the 25-yard line. Making kickoff returns safer is something the league has been…
BC Lottery to Launch Sports Pool Betting
OpenBet has struck a deal with the British Columbia Lottery Corporation (BCLC) to launch a new ‘Sports Pool’ feature on the PlayNow.com gambling website in the Canadian province. Sports Pools, a first for a regulated online gambling site in the country, enables punters to buy-in for a chance to win or share a prize pool. Players pick the winning outcome for the match-ups on a betting card, or opt to randomly choose winners with the ‘quick pick’ feature, with the jackpot being awarded to the players who pick the required amount of correct outcomes. “Sports Pools offers sports fans an…
First US State Legalizes Fantasy Sports
Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe just signed into law the “Fantasy Contests Act,” which is a legal framework for fantasy sports providers that operate in the state. The bill, which was approved by the Virginia legislature a few weeks ago, makes Virginia the first state in the nation to impose state-led oversight of the industry. The state’s Department of Agriculture and Consumer Service will be the state entity that oversees the industry. The bill will require fantasy sports sites to pay the state a $50,000 registration fee, and implement policies to verify that all participants are 18 years of age or older. It also requires player…
Fantasy Updates from Texas, Indiana and Georgia
The fantasy sports industry continues to evolve rapidly in the United States, with several updates to report from around the nation this week. There was positive news from the Midwest, while southern states have not yet come on-board the regulation train. Indiana Sends Fantasy Regulation to Governor Indiana became the second state to officially send a fantasy sports regulatory bill to a governor after the Senate passed legislation on Friday. Virginia’s fantasy sports bill was passed by both chambers last week and landed on the governor’s desk this week. The bill won’t immediately go to Gov. Mike Pence, per GamblingCompliance,…
