13 Arrested in Rhode Island Sports Betting Ring

Gambling 911 – Thirteen individuals were arrested as part of a crackdown on illegal sports betting in Northern Rhode Island Tuesday.  All were arraigned in District Court Providence during the afternoon. Among those arrested were David P. Ayotte, 53, who has worked with the Woonsocket Parks and Recreation Department for 20 years and is the alleged leader of the gambling ring according, according to state police Lt. Col Michael J. Winquist. Police allege that Ayotte’s sports betting ring took in $130,000 of illegal sports wagers during a court authorized wiretap investigation. Gambling Commission Winter Olympics crackdown

BBC – Alderney’s Gambling Commission has brokered a deal to exchange suspicious gambling patterns with the International Olympic Committee (IOC). The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) comes ahead of the Winter Olympics. The deal is part an effort to crack down on illegal gambling. An IOC spokesman said the partnership “protects major competitions from any form of manipulation, particularly those linked to betting”. The Commission’s executive director André Wilsenach said: “This MoU enables the IOC and the Commission rapidly communicate any concerns relating to the integrity of betting on Olympic events.”

Guardian, FSB launch GoWager.com sportsbook

iGaming Business – The Israel Sports Betting Board (ISBB), the exclusive rights operator for sports betting in the country, has launched a new online betting system in partnership with UK sports betting software provider LVS and its French counterpart, lottery solutions specialist Lotsys.
