DraftKings Optimistic on California Sports Bets
The leader of DraftKings has a lot of optimism when it comes to California sports bets. Of course, his opinions may be somewhat skewed by the fact that his company has a rather large investment in that market. And of course, DraftKings could profit plenty if and/or when that market eventually opens up. CEO Jason Robins optimistically believes that California sports bets could be live as soon as next year. And why not? After all, DraftKings is pushing one of the ballot referendum which voters will consider this November. DraftKings is part of a larger coalition which was able to…
Governor Still Supports Massachusetts Sports Bets
They may be down, but they’re not out… not yet. In fact, Massachusetts sports bets still very much have the support of Governor Charlie Baker. And things are being the struggle to legalize sports wagering in the state is being highlighted with the state’s own Boston Celtics in the NBA Finals. The team managed to win game one in the best-of-seven series a few nights ago, and Governor Baker used that victory to highlight the benefits of regulating Massachusetts sports bets. As reported by MassLive, Baker flat out stated that citizens of his state were driving across borders in order…
The Next States with Regulated Sports Betting
We have watched regulated sports betting sweep across the country like wildfire. The US Supreme Court decided just over four years ago that the decision to allow sports wagers was a States Rights issue, and in that time over half of them have decided to legalize the activity. Just this month, Maine sports betting became the 34th market in the nation. Then a few weeks later, sports betting in Kansas followed as the 35th. This naturally makes us wonder (and probably many of you) about which states will be the next to have regulated sports betting. Maybe even this year!…
Kansas 35th State with Regulated Sports Betting

Industry insiders believe that Kansas sports betting will be up and running in time for this years NFL season. The Hollywood Casino in Kansas City, run by Penn National Gaming, say they plan to launch retail and mobile sports betting the first day they are legally permitted. Governor Laura Kelly signed the bill into law which found her desk just last month. The activity is expected to generate over $40 million within 5 years, and 80% of that revenue…
Maine 34th State to Regulate Sports Betting
We may never have all 50 states decide to regulate sports betting. But slowly and surely, more and more states are reaping the rewards of legalizing the activity, and Maine is just the latest. It looked like the state was going to pass sports betting legislation a couple of years ago, as both the State Senate and House passed legislation to do so. That bill was sent to the Governor, who vetoed the measure in a somewhat surprising move. This time around was different. This new bid to regulate sports betting in Maine gives the states Native American tribes exclusivity…
Sports Betting News for Maine & Massachusetts
Will the second time be a charm for Maine? This week’s sports betting news finds the state one signature away from regulating bets on sporting events… but we’ve been here before. Back in 2019 everything looked good for sports betting in Maine. That is, until Governor Mills vetoed the bill, simply stating that she did not believe that the citizens of Maine wanted the activity regulated, plus some other odd ramblings. But the House and Senate passed a new bill bill last week, and hopefully this time is different. The new bill is part of large, tribal sovereignty legislation. It…
