Oregon Mobile Sports Betting Next Week

Oregon mobile sports betting has a launch date, as the state lottery is hoping to be live by next week. They originally estimated that Scoreboard, its new online sports betting game, would be out before the start of the professional football season, but after the sports betting market began on August 27, when the Chinook Winds Casino in Lincoln City launched its new sports book operations, a spokesman of the lottery said that the agency would not meet its goal of starting up in time for NFL season opening. Now, it’s slated to launch the second week of October, as…

Federal Sports Betting Bill Rears its Ugly Head

Utah Senator and former presidential nominee Mitt Romney has resurrected talk of a federal sports betting bill for America. Romney is working with New York Senator Chuck Schumer on a bill that is expected to be similar to the Sports Wagering Market Integrity Act. That bill was co-sponsored by Schumer and now-retired Utah Senator Orrin Hatch (who has been replaced in the Senate by Romney). It was introduced in December 2018 but was not assigned to a committee. The 2018 bill, S.3793, established a general prohibition on sports wagering, but allowed states to submit applications to the Department of Justice…

Michigan Sports Betting Could be Approved Before Super Bowl

Lawmakers are resurrecting a plan to make Michigan sports betting a reality… possibly in time for the upcoming Super Bowl. Even though bills have had widespread support in the Legislature in the past, they were all vetoed by former Governor Rick Snyder who opposed expansion of gambling and feared a loss of revenue for the state lottery. State Representative Brandt Iden is hoping for a different outcome with a new governor in office. “My goal is to have this up and running by the Super Bowl. Casinos are moving forward because they know it’s going to come to fruition at some…
