Flamingo Las Vegas Not for Sale Anymore

There were rumors for quite some time that Caesars Entertainment was going to sell their Flamingo Las Vegas property, and that they wanted a billion dollars for the aging piece of real estate. Now, however, the company has reversed course on the matter and decided they would rather keep the casino resort. You may recall that there was a lot of talk about Caesars selling one of their Strip properties for quite a while. And before there was any specific discussion of Flamingo being sold, many in the industry had speculated that perhaps it was the Planet Hollywood casino that…

Nevada Esports Regulation Moves Forward

The possibility of regulated Nevada esports got a lot closer recently, as a state committee on the matter made the decision to send a proposal to regulate the activity to the Gaming Control Board and Gaming Commission. They are recommending the state amend the current regulations for race books and sports pools to include esports. The Nevada Esports Technical Advisory Committee’s recommendation would allow residents to bet on video game competitions, both online and in person, through existing sports books who take the action. The final draft of the Committee included the ability for sportsbooks to have some flexibility on…

Streak Continues for Nevada Gaming Revenue

It may seem like old news at this point, but for what it’s worth Nevada gaming revenue was over a billion dollars again in September. This reported by the state Gaming Control Board. California Sports Betting Props Will Probably Fail

It’s come down to this: Both of the California sports betting props have their ‘big day’ next week. Voters will head to the polls, with the immediate future of sports wagers at stake. And the very real possibility that neither of the propositions will pass. Well, that sucks. In California, a ballot proposition needs just one vote above 50% to pass. But there are two propositions to regulate betting on sports in the state, and the confusion between the two may end up leaving residents waiting at least another year for sports bets. Proposition 26, backed by Tribal Gaming interests,…

California Sports Betting: A Federal Perspective

We speak with E. Sequoyah Simermeyer of the National Indian Gaming Commission about California sports betting and the Federal considerations and requirements surrounding the regulation of the activity. The NIGC would be involved with the oversight of sports betting conducted at Tribal Casinos, including technological considerations, the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act and compact considerations, and helping Tribal Gaming develop partnerships to deliver sports betting to customers. Sports betting in California will go before voters soon, and they will decide what form of wagering (if any) will become regulated. The two dueling propositions on the ballot would either make sports betting…
