Interstate Poker: Pennsylvania, Michigan, West Virginia
In the midst of the recent Justice Department Wire Act decision to give up their fight, Interstate poker is once again front and center for several states. Gambling regulators in Pennsylvania have made it clear that their desire is for online poker in their state to either join an existing Interstate poker pact, or perhaps even create such a pact with their neighbors in Michigan. For what it’s worth, Michigan regulators have also been open to the idea. Meanwhile, the West Virginia Lottery Commission confirmed that they are also actively “investigating the possibility” of joining an existing cross-border poker compact….
Caesars Closing Planet Hollywood Poker Room
Opportunities to play poker in Las Vegas have fallen once again, as the Planet Hollywood poker room will be shut down on Sunday, July 11th. A spokesperson for the Caesars properties has confirmed the closure of the 10-table room. Poker remains active at other Caesars properties, including Caesars Palace, Bally’s and Flamingo. There was a time when Las Vegas had over 1,000 tables, but with the closure of the Planet Hollywood poker room, along with recent closure at Binion’s, Mandalay Bay, the Mirage, and Excalibur, that number has fallen to about 300. New Revenue Record for Nevada Casinos
Nevada casinos have come roaring back after the Coronavirus pandemic had them closed for a significant time last year. Now, all casinos have set a record in May by winning $1.23 billion. It’s the highest single-month win in the state’s history, blowing past a $1.165 billion record set in October 2007. The record win came before tourist-reliant Nevada on June 1 lifted virtually all restrictions on crowds and business capacity statewide.
