Zumanity Closes Forever Due to Coronavirus
Cirque du Soleil has announced that one of their most popular Las Vegas shows is no more. Zumanity closes forever, ending it’s seventeen year run at New York-New York, due to the Coronavirus pandemic. The company announced in June it is filing for bankruptcy. The closure puts 120 artists, crew members and staff out of work. A spokesperson for Cirque du Soleil said that they are “…forever grateful to the extraordinarily talented cast, crew and staff who helped make Zumanity an unforgettable experience…” for more than seven million guests. More Las Vegas Mid-Week Casino Closures
With tourism still down, MGM Resorts has decided to follow the lead of others and implement mid-week casino closures for two of their Las Vegas resorts. Their Mandalay Bay and Mirage casinos will be closed from Mondays through Thursdays beginning November 30th. The hotels will welcome guests at noon on Thursdays and remain open through the weekends. MGM stated that it does not expect the mid-week casino closures stay in effect as they move into 2021. New Las Vegas Casinos COVID Restrictions
Just in time for the holidays, a fresh new set of Las Vegas casinos COVID restrictions have arrived. The Governor of Nevada made the announcement and said those restrictions would go into force tomorrow, November 24th, and past at least three weeks. Naturally, these restrictions do not effect online casinos, which remain open to customers. One of the new mandates under the Governor’s orders in that the capacity of casino has been reduced from 50% occupancy to just 25%. American Casinos Uphill Fight Against Coronavirus
American casinos are fighting an uphill battle to recover from the pandemic. Now, hope of getting back to normal is threatened in some places, including Las Vegas, as the virus continues to strengthen into a second wave. Michigan has ordered businesses to shut down for three weeks, and that included casinos. Layoffs of casino employees in Atlantic City and work hours cut down are in direct response to new restrictions imposed by the governor there.
