Lawmakers are considering a bill that could lead to Texas sports betting regulation for both online and mobile. Introduced by Representative Eddie Lucio III, H 1725 would make a total of five permits available in the state. Each permit would be designated with two skins. These permits would each cost $250,000, while operators that secure approval would pay 6.25% in tax on their sports betting handle. This would be collected on a monthly basis. Don’t look now, but here comes even more sports betting at the Hard Rock Atlantic City! The casino received permission from the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement to begin so-called “soft-play” testing of equipment and systems for online sports betting, and did so last week. It is likely to be the last Atlantic City casino to join the sports book race. Hard Rock will be the eighth of the city’s nine casinos to offer sports betting. Former State Senator Mike Kowall has predicted Michigan online gambling will be legalized in the state, despite outgoing governor Rick Snyder vetoing legislation for each vertical. Snyder refused to sign the gaming bills which were passed by the Michigan House and Senate during the final legislative session of 2018. The Las Vegas Stratosphere Casino, Hotel & Tower is embracing a new era of its history as one of the most recognizable features on the Strip with a planned rebrand as part of the property’s ongoing makeover. The Stratosphere will be renamed as The STRAT Hotel, Casino and Skypod, it became known earlier this week.
