Three men’s college athletes have been permanently banned by NCAA basketball  amid an expanding probe into gambling violations involving college basketball. The ruling covers three former players: Mykell Robinson and Jalen Weaver of Fresno State, and Steven Vasquez of San Jose State. All three have been dismissed from their teams and are no longer enrolled. The NCAA found that the athletes wagered on their own games, shared inside information, and in some instances intentionally altered their performance to influence betting outcomes during the 2024-25 regular season. Circa Sports NFL contest has set a new benchmark in the sports betting industry by guaranteeing $31.6 million in prize money. The figure represents the largest guaranteed pool in history, surpassing the company’s own $20.2 million record from last year. The Million contest, which requires participants to submit five weekly picks against the spread, saw 5,685 entries. That total came in below the 6,000‐entry target, resulting in a $315,000 overlay to reach the $6 million guarantee. The New York sports betting market posted another strong performance in August, with total wagering volume surpassing $2 billion for the month. According to figures released by the New York State Gaming Commission, bettors placed $2.04 billion in wagers, marking a 42 percent increase from the same month last year and a 46 percent jump over July. It was the highest monthly handle since May. Sports betting revenue also rose significantly. Gross gaming revenue reached $178.2 million in August, representing a 42.6 percent year-over-year increase. The statewide hold rate stood at 8.72 percent.
