Indiana Sports Betting Starts Today

Just in time for the NFL season, Indiana sports betting is up and running! Three sites within the state have been approved for emergency rules that will allow them to offer sports betting on September 1st, with two additional casinos following next week. Sara Gonso Tait, executive director of the commission, told members that her staff has been working hard since to develop the emergency rules that will allow Indiana to join the ranks of states allowing sports wagering. “In order to capture the black market, we have to have a competitive regulatory market,” she said, according to The Statehouse…

Truck Stop Gambling in Pennsylvania

Truck stop gambling officially went live a couple of weeks ago at a convenience store along Route 30 in Pennsylvania. Its gaming room became the first in the state to offer five video gaming terminals tailored to the state’s strict specifications. The provision of the 2017 Pennsylvania gaming expansion law permitting up to five video gaming terminals at qualifying truck stops around the state was partly tailored on the VGT law in Illinois, with one huge difference: Unlike Illinois, there is no provision for VGTs at bars, taverns or private clubs, despite intense lobbying from the state’s tavern association. The…

Oregon Sports Betting Live at Chinook Winds

Oregon sports betting is officially off and running ahead of the NFL season… at least at the Chinook Winds Casino. The move comes as the Oregon State Lottery plans to launch a new online feature, but that won’t be up and running for several more weeks. Right now, betting with Chinook Winds is only available in person at the casino. The casino did a soft open earlier this week that featured former Dallas Cowboys defensive end Ed ‘Too Tall’ Jones putting $5 on the Cowboys to win the Super Bowl this season. Shortly after, bets were open to the public….

No PokerStars in Pennsylvania… Yet

Rumors of PokerStars in Pennsylvania launching sometime this week have been greatly exaggerated. According to the Gaming Control Board, there is not any testing scheduled for this week.  Mount Airy and PokerStars are working toward launching sports wager and online products (online slots, table games, poker).  However, at this point,  I do not know if they will be testing all of their different products at the same time or a different times. All things considered, PokerStars is widely expected to be the first operator to launch online poker in the Keystone State. PokerStars partnered with Mount Airy Casino to gain…
