In a civil complaint filed Tuesday in federal court in New Jersey finds FanDuel sued by bookmaker William Hill for copyright infringement. The suit is in regard to a betting guide being distributed at the Meadowlands Racetrack sportsbook. William Hill, which operates the sportsbooks at Monmouth Park racetrack and Ocean Resort Casino in New Jersey, is seeking damages and injunctive relief after discovering that FanDuel’s betting guide included identical wording from parts of the “How to Bet Guide” published by William Hill on June 5, 2018. Legal Sports Bets Could Net Leagues $4.2 Billion Annually
The four major U.S. professional sports leagues could reap a combined $4.2 billion annually as a result of legal sports bets, most of it indirectly from increased fan engagement, according to a casino industry survey released on Thursday. The findings could fuel a long-simmering feud between the gaming industry and American sports leagues, who want a share of the gambling revenue as U.S. states begin to legalize sports betting. West Virginia Sports Betting Rejects Integrity Fees
The plans for West Virginia sports betting have dealt a blow to the major US sports leagues after integrity fees were not included in the state’s revised betting rules. Sports betting is already live at two of the state’s five casinos – with mobile betting expected soon – however firms have been operating since August on temporary rules. Las Vegas Poker Rooms Raking Millions Over Summer
The 18 Las Vegas poker rooms on the Strip took in $8.6 million worth of rake from their cash games in July this year. That’s according to Nevada state figures. The revenue was off slightly from the $8.9 million raked in July 2017. June of this year saw Strip-area poker revenue of $14.1 million, up more than six percent year-over-year. June’s statewide total of about $17.5 million nearly broke the single-month record.
