New Jersey Sports Book Sues US Sports Leagues
Monmouth Park, a New Jersey sports book, is suing US sports leagues for more than $150m (€128m) over their part in the blocking of betting in the state over the last four years. Owners of the racetrack named the National Collegiate Athletic Association and professional sports leagues, including American football’s NFL, basketball’s NBA and Major League Baseball, in court papers issued in May, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer. Organizers of the 2018 World Series of Poker have announced that this year’s main event is the second biggest of all time with a huge field of 7,874 players taking their seat at the Rio All-Suites Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas this week. New Jersey Meadowlands to Begin Take Sports Bets
The Meadowlands Racetrack in East Rutherford, New Jersey, says it plans to start taking sports bets on July 14. The track had previously estimated it might begin taking bets a day later. An opening ceremony is set for that morning, with the first bets placed by invited dignitaries. The track’s sports betting operation will then be open to the public.
