Atlantic City Casinos Post 10 Year Record
Atlantic City casinos posted their best summer in more than a decade, with August revenue figures showing strong gains across in-person gambling, internet gaming, and sports betting. According to the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement, the city’s nine casinos generated $312 million from in-person gambling in August, a 6.1 percent increase compared with the same month last year. When including internet gaming and sports wagering, the total revenue for the month climbed to $642.2 million, up 15.7 percent year over year. New Jersey Casinos Outside of Atlantic City?
Governor Phil Murphy said this week he is open to discussions about expanding New Jersey casinos beyond Atlantic City. The comments came during a press conference in Trenton following a recent report from the Stockton University Poll that shows growing public support for allowing casinos in other parts of the state. Murphy emphasized that while he is not currently pushing for expansion, but he is willing to engage in conversations about the possibility. Players Plan Return to Atlantic City Within 6 Months
A recent survey of more than 800 individuals has found that over 70% of them plan to be back in Atlantic City casinos this year… and sooner rather than later. The survey was conducted by the Lloyd D. Levenson Institute of Gaming, Hospitality and Tourism located at Stockton University. Trump Plaza in Atlantic City to be Blown Up
Less than a month after his presidency ended, Donald’s Trump Plaza is set to be demolished in Atlantic City, New Jersey. The building has been vacant since 2014. The resort is set for demolition on February 17, as the building has been falling apart in recent years. What’s left of the complex has been a grim reminder of Atlantic City’s economic difficulties over the past decade.
