Plans for “super-casinos” should be revived as controls are introduced to promote more responsible gambling, a senior figure in London’s gaming industry said today. Roy Ramm, governance and public affairs director at Caesars Entertainment, claimed casinos had improved their standards since the dispute over proposed super-casinos a decade ago. The Alabama Senate Marketing and Tourism Committee is to vote on a new bill that could lead to the legalisation of lottery and casino gambling in the US state. Put forward by Senate President Pro Tem Del Marsh, the amendment would create a state-wide lottery and bring casino gaming to the four dog racing tracks in Alabama. Samoa is to open its first casino. It will be at Aggie Greys Resort at Mulifanua, near the international airport, and employ 100 staff. The Prime Minister, Tuila’epa Sa’ilele Malielegaoi, says the first casino will create more job opportunities and attract more tourists into the country. Tuila’epa has told reporters in his weekly radio programme the idea behind the government’s decision for a casino is for tourists to spend more days in Samoa and spend their wealth.
