Italian Gambling Strong in Weak Economy

The toll of gambling on mental health has received greater attention following the July 4 suicide of a teen on the Italian island of Ischia who had gambled away his family’s savings. The region of Lombardy has the most per capita spending on slot machines; 40 Lombardy mayors took a stand against gambling last week, calling for limits on the industry, in spite of the short-term economic benefits. Net Entertainment inks Lottomatica deal

From iGaming Business Online gambling software developer Net Entertainment AB has signed a license agreement that will see its casino games made available to Italian operator Lottomatica Scommesse Srl via the Lottomatica.it and Totosi.it domains. Stockholm-based Net Entertainment stated that the deal will see it deliver ‘a wide range of casino games’ to Lottomatica for use in its regulated Italian online businesses. Lottomatica Scommesse is a subsidiary of GTECH SpA and a member of the World Lottery Association (WLA).
