Three New Mexico tribes sue Kalshi over their activity, which they believe is sports betting? It was bound to happen. The Pueblos and the Mescalero Apache Tribe have initiated legal action in federal court, alleging that the prediction market platform is facilitating illegal sports gambling on tribal lands. In the lawsuit, the plaintiffs claim the New York based company is violating federal gaming laws and tribal sovereignty by allowing wagers on sporting events within their jurisdictions. Americans love to gamble, but for years a line has been drawn around betting on US elections. That was until the New York-based startup Kalshi sued the Commodities and Futures Trading Commission over the issue.
