Kansas sports betting was passed less than two months ago, but that has not stopped Governor Laura Kelly from setting some aggressive goals for the launch. After signing the legislation into law last week, we said that she hoped to see bets being accepted as early as the upcoming NFL season. Governor Kelly stated that “Legalizing sports betting is a common-sense solution that will keep Kansans’ money in Kansas”. It’s official! Regulated sports betting has come to Kansas, making them the 35th state to pass legislation to legalize the activity. Industry insiders believe that Kansas sports betting will be up and running in time for this years NFL season. Kansas Sports Betting Sails Through Senate

A Kansas sports betting bill that would allow both land based and online gambling on sporting events passed the state senate by a 23-15 vote. The legislation will now head to the House of Representatives where it will be debated. The bill was introduced in January by the Senate’s Committee on Federal and State Affairs and sets out measures to permit casinos already licensed to launch on-premises sports betting and offer two online betting skins. Kansas Sports Betting Bill for New Year

A Kansas sports betting bill could be put forth within weeks as state’s lawmakers continue to hear evidence about its potential impact, according to Representative Jan Kessinger. Kessinger, whose sports betting bill died in committee earlier this year, said he plans to present new proposals soon after the Special Committee on Federal and State Affairs reports its findings following the hearings, which conclude December 13th. He said he also expects the committee itself to draft its own legislation.
