Las Vegas Casinos Prepare for Work Stoppage

As over 30,000 workers across Clark County prepare for a strike, the Las Vegas casinos which will be impacted by the stoppage are preparing for the worst. In an ominous sign of things to come, management at these resorts is making plans to keep their properties running in a “worst case” scenario. Employees at MGM, Caesars, and Wynn properties are seeking a new, five-year contract before their November 10th deadline. Now, contingency plans are being implemented across the 18 Las Vegas casinos effected. This includes hiring new employees. On the other side, the Union representing the workers is also making…

Las Vegas Casinos Play Musical Chairs

This week’s gambling news looks at the changing names and locations of Las Vegas casinos! We start with Bally’s, where the transformation to the Horseshoe Las Vegas has begun. But the Horseshoe used to be downtown… and Bally’s wasn’t always Bally’s… as Las Vegas casinos play a game of musical chairs!   Hello, my friends, and thank you so much for streaming another edition of This Week in Gambling, where we have a little bit of a history lesson, plus some major moves heading for Las Vegas casinos, where the only constant is change. Three Las Vegas Casinos to be Demolished

This week’s gambling news finds three Las Vegas casinos closing forever. Having been shut down since the pandemic began, many of these were never able to re-open, and now they will be demolished. Additionally, another hotel right on The Vegas Strip has closed to make room for a mystery project. Could it be a new Las Vegas Casino Resort? Las Vegas Casinos on a Hot Streak

It’s been a hell of a run for Las Vegas casinos lately! In fact, as we reported last week, they just took in over a billion dollars in gambling revenue for the sixth consecutive month! The longest ‘hot streak’ ever for Vegas gambling was seven months, so there is a real opportunity to not only match the current record, but extend it past seven months. The Nevada Gaming Control Board said that revenue for the state was over $1.16 billion for August, which represents more than a 22% increase from this time in 2019. Additionally, the Las Vegas casinos on…

The Las Vegas Casinos That Still Remain Closed

Even though the Governor of Nevada lifted COVID restrictions, capacity limits, and social distancing, a small group of Las Vegas casinos still remained closed… and most likely will stay that way for another six months to a year. Word from Texas Station and Fiesta Rancho is that the properties will remain shuttered for another six months at minimum. The closure could be longer, but you should not expect these resorts to re-open before 2022. It’s worse news for Fiesta Henderson, as there are no reopening plans in place at this time. The word is that the property will remain closed…

Which Las Vegas Casinos are Fully Open?

Last week we reported that several Las Vegas casinos had been allowed to open at full capacity. The Cosmopolitan, along with the Wynn and the Encore, were the first to get to 100% occupancy for their casino floors. Now, several more casinos have joined them. Yesterday, word came down that The Strat had received permission from the Nevada Gaming Control Board to fully open. Now comes word that many more Las Vegas casinos will be joining them: Caesars Entertainment announced that all of their properties around Sin City were operating with no occupancy or social distancing restrictions. That includes Caesars…
