Atlantic Lottery Sued over “Deceptive Practices”

Two video lottery terminal (VLT) users have cleared a hurdle in their legal fight against Canada’s Atlantic Lottery Corporation (ALC) over practices that they claimed are deceptive, dangerous and illegal. The legal battle dates back to 20017, when lead plaintiff Douglas Babstock and Fred Small filed a lawsuit accusing ALC of designing its VLT line of games to be deceptive. In the lawsuit, Babstock said the machines—which he started using in the late 1990s—“gradually sucked away his money” and took over his life. To have the lawsuit certified, the group’s lawyers dug deep into the past and found a more…

Wynn Threatens Defamation Suit

Embattled casino king Steve Wynn is once again threatening a defamation suit, this time against Boston Mayor Martin Walsh. Now Wynn Resorts Ltd. is threatening to sue Walsh for allegedly smearing the company in…

New Jersey: Sports betting ban violates states’ rights

Las Vegas Sun – New Jersey is bolstering its legal arguments as it tries to get the U.S. Supreme Court to consider its effort to overturn a ban on legalized sports betting in all but four states. In a filing submitted Tuesday, the state says the federal law needs to be reviewed immediately. Theodore Olson, who won the Bush v. Gore election case in 2000, says the ban impermissibly restricts states’ rights. He also says the high court needs to consider the way the law treats states differently. The law restricts sports betting to states that met a 1991 deadline…

A registered medical marijuana patient since February, Price is prescribed the drug to treat both seizures and irritable bowel disease. “I asked the security…

Details Emerge in Lawsuit Against Phil Ivey

Poker News – Last week, Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa in Atlantic City filed a lawsuit against Phil Ivey seeking reimbursement of $9.626 million in winnings he won at the baccarat table during four sessions back in 2012. The nearly 60-page complaint, which PokerNews recently obtained in full, alleges that Ivey used “edge sorting” — a technique where in which he was able to spot tiny variations in the pattern printed on the backs of the cards. The suit also names card manufacturer Gemaco Inc., which designed the cards, as well as Ivey’s partner, Cheng Yin Sun, who reportedly accompanied…
