Months after most Louisiana sports betting was approved by voters, lawmakers have passed the rules which will allow wagers to be places through betting sites, mobile apps, and kiosks in parishes where the activity was approved. Voters in 55 of Louisiana’s 64 parishes agreed to allow sports betting on live-action games, but lawmakers had to set the rules and the tax rates before the gambling can begin. The Fight for Louisiana Sports Betting

There have been a lot of bills introduced for the regulation of Louisiana sports betting. Now, estimates are that the activity could be launched as early as this fall, perhaps in time for the NFL season. Senators in Louisiana recently voted 31-6 on a bill to allow sports bets to be placed on smartphones, in casinos, at approved kiosks, and even in restaurants that serve liquor. Louisiana Sports Betting Opportunity Wasted

The possibility of Louisiana sports betting appears to be lost for the year after the state’s House of Representatives rejected amendments bill that would have legalized wagering. That original House bill primarily focused on regulating daily fantasy sports in the state, but was amended by the Senate to include betting on sports. Had it been approved by the House (and secured a majority of votes in a state election of Louisiana citizens) it would have enabled to establishment of regulatory framework for sports betting.
