New Jersey approves multi-state slots system

Philly.com – New Jersey casino regulators approved a multi-state slots system designed to result in larger jackpots. The state’s Division of Gaming Enforcement said Wednesday it has authorized a wide-area progressive slots jackpot system involving New Jersey and other jurisdictions. It said “several states” have indicated an interest in participating, but listed only one: South Dakota, which is still considering its own regulations for multi-state slots. The launch of the system depends on how quickly other states approve their own regulations, the division said. The goal is to create larger jackpots that will be more appealing to players – some…

New Jersey Misses Out on Internet Gambling Partner

Poker News – Ever since he first introduced legislation to license and regulate Internet gambling in New Jersey in 2010, New Jersey State Sen. Ray Lesniak has prophesied of the Garden State being at the center of the emerging industry in the United States — the Silicon Valley of online wagering. That explains his frustration Tuesday when he heard that Delaware and Nevada had taken the first step to create an interstate online poker network, announcing an agreement to combine poker player pools. Delaware and New Jersey seem to make the more natural partners. They are neighbors, and they both…

State Treasurer Andrew Sidamon-Eristoff later cut Christie’s estimated increase to $160 million. But Tuesday he conceded even that was far too high, and now expected just a $34 million rise in casino tax revenue for the fiscal…

New Jersey Bill Calls For Casinos To Beef Up Security

Card Player – Some lawmakers in the state of New Jersey want casinos in Atlantic City to beef up their security. According to Press of Atlantic City, a recent case of assault in a stairwell at a casino there has prompted a legislative initiative that would require casinos to have plenty of surveillance in parking garages, including their stairwells. Some already do, though. The report stated: “Assemblywoman Celeste Riley has sponsored the legislation arguing that stairwells should be monitored with the same degree of attention as the heavily watched gambling floors overseen by thousands of cameras. The legislation would give…
