Ohio Sports Betting Bill Allows for 40 Licenses

A State Senator has introduced legislation for the regulation of Ohio sports betting. If approved, it would allow for up to forty (40) licenses. A previous attempt to pass legislation to bet on sports failed. Of those licenses, twenty (20) would be granted to casinos and racinos in the state. Those casinos and racinos would then be able to partner web based sports books to usher in online gambling. An Ohio sports betting bill has been introduced by lawmakers in the state. The bill could lead to legalize the activity for the state’s 11 casinos and racinos, as well as permit online gambling. Venues that want to offer sports betting services would need to pay a license fee of $100,000, and licensees would be able to enter partnerships with operators in order to offer sports wagering.
