Russia Ramps Up War on Internet Gambling
Russia this week tightened the screws on banks and payment processors, ordering them to cleanse the names of unlicensed online operators from their client lists. The Izvestia news agency has reported that the Russian media regulator, Roskomnadzor, has written to Russia’s largest bank, Sherbank, as well as payment processors Skrill and Yandex, ordering them to remove operators from their customer-base in compliance with the law. Russia is in the midst of legalizing and regulating sports betting, a fact that has steeled its resolve to stamp out unregulated sites. The state began ISP blocking online gambling websites around September 2015 after…
Online Gambling Collision Course with Justice Department
Now that Jeff Sessions has been confirmed as U.S. Attorney General, we can certainly expect the Department of Justice to “revisit” the Federal Wire Act. And if their opinion of the Wire Act changes, all online gambling in the United States could be shut down. This week’s special offer comes from Slotastic and the Grande Vegas online casino!
Proof of Online Gambling Cheat?
US-facing online sportsbook BetOnline is the buzz of the internet at the moment after one of its live casino dealers appears to have been caught on video cheating at blackjack. You can watch Morgenstern’s full 26-minute video… but the crucial portion CAN BE VIEWED HERE. Around the 20-second mark, you…
Online Gambling Payment Transactions Targeted by Russians
Russia’s Ministry of Finance has drafted a new bill designed to block payment transactions with international online gambling companies. According to Russian news website RBC.ru, the proposed legislation, which is set to be discussed by the government on Thursday, sets out regulations that would require banks and payment processors to block transactions between punters in the country and international operators. Should the bill gain approval, the Federal Task Service would create a blacklist of Russian and international companies and individuals that participate in illegal online gaming activities, with the list to then be sent to financial institutions in the country,…
Online Gambling Concerns with Sessions Confirmed
Former Alabama Senator Jeff Sessions was sworn in as United States Attorney General on Thursday, after a divided Senate prolonged his confirmation hearings, amid a sometimes bitter debate that closely scrutinized his record on civil rights. President Donald Trump’s pick for the job has been dogged by allegations of racism since he was denied a federal judgeship 30 years ago, due to what Ted Kennedy called evidence of “gross insensitivity to the questions of race.” Enough column inches have been devoted this week to what Sessions may or may not have said in the eighties, as well as almost everything…
Massachusetts Problem Gambling Shows Reason for Online Regulation
There are zero legal online gambling sites in Massachusetts, but that doesn’t mean people don’t gamble online in the Bay State. In the United States, online gambling is only legal and regulated in the following locales: New Jersey, Delaware and Nevada. That being said, online gambling (poker, casino, sports betting, and beyond) is widely available across the United States. In most states, including Massachusetts, online gamblers don’t have the same protections as gamblers in New Jersey, Delaware and Nevada. They have no choice but to play on offshore, unlicensed, and unregulated online gaming websites – sites that have a spotty…
