Washington State sports betting is closer to reality as the Tulalip Tribe has reached an agreement with the State Gambling Commission. That agreement not only allows the Tribe to accept sports bets, but to actually host some events on their casino property. This is the first contract for betting on sports in the state, and comes after a year of negotiations. Bets will be taken on both professional and college games, the Olympic games, and e-sports if the events take place on Tribal casino land. Washington Sports Betting Could Expand

Washington sports betting is looking to expand beyond the walls of Tribal casinos. For the second year in a row a new bill was introduced in the Senate to bring sports gambling to bettors in venues across the state. The bill would deliver sports betting to licensed card rooms and horse tracks. A similar proposal bill failed last year, but this time supporters say there is bipartisan support for the legislation. One of the most adversarial states for gambling is looking to expand the activity. A Washington state sports betting bill has been approved by a House appropriations committee which would allow tribal casinos to offer wagers on sporting events. The committee voted 25-7 on Tuesday to send the bill to the full House for a vote before the session ends on March 13. The proposal would also have to pass the Senate and be signed by Gov. Possibility of Washington State Sports Betting

State legislators are to hold hearings this week on a bill that could legalize Washington State sports betting after decades of it being banned. House Bill 1975, sponsored by Majority Caucus Chair Eric Pettigrew (D) and seven others, calls for professional and college sports wagering to be legalized within tribal gaming facilities. The bill, introduced last Friday, also calls for the legalization of online sports gaming within those same tribal facilities — which would represent a significant shift for the nation’s only state where any form of internet gambling is currently a Class C felony.
