Ladbrokes kicks off World Cup Facebook betting competition

Ladbrokes 4iGaming Business – Bookmaker Ladbrokes has moved to capitalise on this summer’s Fifa World Cup by launching a bespoke Facebook application designed to facilitate a daily community derived from bets on the national team football tournament.

According to Thedrum.com, the BIG Score app is a crowd-sourced, free-to-play, accumulator-style betting competition that allows players to grow a community pot by selecting one of five daily bets on which to wager.

Once a player has entered their virtual bet, they will be entered into a prize draw for that day.

The overall winner of the betting competition will be awarded £5,000 while two runners-up will each pocket £1,000. A further £3,000 will be handed out as spot prizes throughout the event.

The BIG Score can be accessed via Ladbrokes’ official Facebook page.

David Moscardini, social media manager at Ladbrokes, said: “The BIG Score is a fun, daily competition which we hope will generate additional excitement around what is already the most hotly-anticipated World Cup of all time.

“Brazil 2014 will be the most social media-dominant World Cup – and probably sporting event – of all time so we hope our Facebook-run contest will tap into the social buzz and give our community added enjoyment to complement their TV watching and gaming activity.”
